Checking in

I haven't kept the blog up to date. I have meant to and I definitely have enough projects going on but with a toddler and a broken pp I just haven't kept y'all in the loop.
I do miss sharing our homestead but because my whole world now revolves around my child it's difficult to share. I don't want to expose my daughter to the world and the Internet is an open door way to the world.
Well. Enough babbling. The next project I have coming up is a big one. We are building a front porch that will run out to the studio/our tiny house/baby Z's school and the. We will be adding a deck hallway to the sud shack so no more taking shoes on and off to go do loading!!! It's the little things in life.

Baby and a Kid?

Currently thinking about baby number 2. I have always heard people say "a sibling is the best gift you can give your child" but honestly isnt a great childhood filled with love the best thing that you can give your child.
All these thoughts running through my mind literally driving me to Pro con list out baby number 2. I worry that with a second child I wouldn't give my first child the devoted attention that she needs/deserves.
Women are famous for changing their minds and maybe I will change my mind later but for now my mind tells me I'm not ready for another baby. I'm putting this post out there for all the moms only one child and been made to feel guilty by others. There is no need to feel guilty because you didn't want to add another child to your family. You simply got it perfect and right the first time no need to try again:)

Half Dozen chicken coop

So, this is the start of our newest chicken coop. We had a devastating loss of all of our chickens and ducks. Long story short, even with a fenced in yard a pack of wild dogs broke in and killed them. For a long time we didn't get more; we had our daughter and a million homestead projects plus we were sad.

I got us more chickens so we were ready to get the coops built. My brother works in construction and remodel so he often has access to scrap wood. He was working on a tongue and groove ceiling and the clients were going to just throw this wood out!!! Obviously, he took it for me. Thanks Theo.
Not only did he snag the wood for me but he built this coop too! He started with the side walls.

The pictures kind of explain the process. This coop will house six chickens and the nesting boxes we have are for our backyard so my brother built in three boxes. Mr and I originally thought that each chicken needed it's own nesting box but they don't so this coop got three perfectly sized boxes and that'll be good enough.
Till next time, y'all know the drill keep it green, clean, and classy

Desk Repurposed

I picked this desk up at a thrift awhile back and have been slowly working on it here and there, aka during Zs nap time. Im so excited to show y'all the before and after because I'm done!!!
The pictures won't post in the order I'm selecting for some reason but you can tell what is before and what is after.
So, the breakdown of what i did to get this master piece. I took out the middle drawer and cut the middle supports. Then, pryed and cut the top off the desk. I removed the legs from the side i would be stacking on top. Next up, i roped my Mr in to cut me a top for the tower. I had to get the duct tape off which was a JOB! Added the top mister made, and connected the rop to the bottom with wood glue and a nail gun.  I filled in the holes created from the middle supports. While in the wood filler i touched up all the rough areas and filled the lines that were on the side. Sand, fill, sand, fill then prime and the primer showed off areas that needed more filler and sanding. Then, two coats of paint. I spray painted the handles and sanded them to aged perfection. Put handles back on and photographed for y'all!!!

Trash to Treasure

This is literally trash to treasure transformation today, because i repurposed a trash bin!  I removed the bottom flap and filler. Drilled a hole through the bin into the base. Added my light kit and a LED bulb and presto chango; I've got my over the kitchen light. I love it. When it's on it shines a neat pattern on the ceiling. Till next time keep it green, clean, and classy

Farmily Members

We got new chickens! And ducks! We had a wild neighborhood dog jump our fence and kill our chickens, so for awhile we were without any. Having a million projects and a baby kept us from getting more straight away, but we have more now!!!
I'll be posting a new chicken coop build, once we build a new chicken coop haha. Till then,

$2 Trunk before

I got this trunk for, you guessed it, $2. I needed the storage but it obviously needs a makeover. Which will come in a different post because im not done but thought talking about it would help motivate me to finish!
Till next time

Painting a 90's chandelier

If  you're painting the inside and outside of light globes different colors, paint the inside first. Then, use a plastic drink bottle turned upside down in the light bulb hole to keep overspray from getting on the inside.

2017

This is my first picture of the new year, of myself because, of course, I've taken like 500 of baby Z already! Love her!
But the point of this picture is to remind myself that i may be a stay at home mom and i may have a homestead to run but that doesn't mean i can't look good doing it, or at least presentable... Keeping it real haha.
I gave up flip flops sometime last year and it helped me to not feel like a slouch in public. I don't wear makeup but i did buy a lip gloss (ok, my mom got it for me.. Take about giving a hint, right? Haha)
So, besides continuing to strive to be the best mom ever im also going to try not to have such a "mom/farmer" look. -sidenote- i donated all my hair a couple weeks after baby Z was born and now 14 months and several haircuts later, my hair is growing out without the "I'm growing my hair out look" so that's exciting!!!
What are some of y'alls goals/resolutions this year?
