March Reading Adventure

Narnia
The Narnia book series has been out for some time now so I'm not introducing a new author here, but it's a favorite.

This picture is actually one I took myself while living in Colorado. I ran across it and instantly thought of the light pole that grows in the story.
Green, clean, and classy.

February Must Read Book - Series

So, it's a little late in the month but trust me you will finish this book quickly.
The basic set up is zombie post apocalypse. It's starts with a man discovering that the city he is in has been hit with bombs and gas that creates zombies. He soon rescues a lady and the story rolls forward to a whirlwind of adventure.

I didn't even realize that the book was a series until the end. The author does give you an ending but then opens the door for a second. It is currently a six book series.

This is the second in the series and the book I'm about to start. Can't wait to read it. So, for now that's all I have for y'all. Keep it green, clean, classy.

January Read

So, I'm sharing my first book of the year. A new year resolution that appears year after year on my list is to read more. This year I started off with a novel that fits into my "normal" read list. I love me some space travel.

The basic outline is that Earth has evidence of alien life. The Americans and the Russians start a race of who can make contact first. I thoroughly enjoyed the story until ... The ending. I won't give alway any spoilers because I want y'all to check the story out for yourself.

Green, clean, and classy.

Reading Adventures

Sharing another reading adventure post. I loved the story line of this series (it's currently just two books, but it ends with the possibility of another book).

The story involves travel from other planets, interplanetary police, conspiracies, adventures, mind reading abilities, and some romance. Basically it has it all.

What held my interest is that the main character, a boy named Ash, has what is referred to as trueborn abilities of mind transference with animals. (He can mentally connect with animals and see, hear, smell, and think like that animal) The author gives great detail into the mind of several different animals.

As good as the first book was I expected nothing less from the second, but like a sequel to almost any movie, it was a let down. The first book was filled with story and introductions to characters, plus the animal mind touch was cool. The second book recapped so much of the first book, that I felt like I was reading a rerun. Another thing that differs in the second book was the concentration on the romances. I'm a chick, so of course, I've read romance novels before but I like to keep it at a minimum in my science fiction. All in all I still liked it enough to recommend it and blog about :)

So, I've now started reading this.......

I'm only one chapter in, but it jumps right to the plot so I'm excited to try to get some reading in today. If you want to read along with me all the books are available at Amazon... If you are shopping amazon use smile.amazon.com Smile Amazon is the same amazon but they give to a charity, of your choosing, with qualifying purchases.

We all need to do our part to keep the planet safe from humans, please recycle. Y'all have a great weekend and remember to keep it green, clean, and classy.

Monday Magic - reading adventure

I'm a huge fan of the art known as writing. A story so fantastically wild as to pull you from your reality yet so exquisitely detailed that it seems believable, well, that's not just art but magic.

My current reads include (but are not limited to) -

The Re-Enchantment of Everyday Life by Thomas Moore
-this is a slower read, something I pick up from time to time.

The Jane Austen marriage manual by Kim Izzo
-the last trip out to the lake I found this next to our vehicle, so I took it home. I never turn down a free book :)

The Pilot's Wife by Anita Shreve
-it was previously in Oprah's book club

What the Night Knows by Dean Koontz
-this was also a free book, try hosting a book swap with your friends and neighbors. Not only will this save you money but it saves resources as well so it's beneficial to your environment. Think green, think clean.

Child of Awe by Kathryn Lynn Davis
- I will admit at first this was some what frustrating to read. The story is set in the past and the author chose to use language such as "ye" instead of "you". While, it did have me stumbling in the beginning now I appreciate the authentic feel it gives the story.

Xenogenesis (a trilogy collection including: Dawn, Adulthood Rites, and Imago) by Octavia E. Butler
- a story from the late 80's that has my imagination soaring. Currently in book two, Adulthood Rites, and looking forward to the last one.
