Hey y'all! I know I have been gone way to long, but what can I satay. I'm pregnant and Texas has been hit with rain practically every darn day. So, not a million things to report but I did want to share a few pics of the farmily. This cute one is Stalliion. He has decided that he doesn't like the other chickens and thinks he is my human baby, love'em.

Of course, my main man and warrior love Iolaus.

Here's Pete Pete. He has taken on role of baby ducky protector and I love him even more for it.

The new beaks. 

They are itchy everywhere because of the feather growth. No more soft baby down.

Last but certainly not least our lovely princess Bella.

Stain and Seal Gate

With a break in the rain, I got to work putting a coat of stain and Seal on our gate.

It looked a bit orange, but once applied to the wood it really brought it back to life. I used a 2" angled brush to apply and enlisted the new duckies as assistants:)

That's that, y'all know the drill. . . Keep it green, clean, and classy.

Our newest Farmily Member

So, this little one hatched on 4/20, very unexpectedly. We have one chicken that has taken to sitting on the eggs in her box. We were using their own eggs as the box eggs...to keep them laying in the coop and not just wherever. Mr is usually good at charging them out every few days but this one egg made it a few weeks and turned into a chicken:)
In other news, we gave away one of our roostwrs, Mr. Red, but he will be on some land with hens so he is in a good place. We just couldn't keep up with having two roosters.

Newest Farmily Members

New beaks! So, it's official our farm has grown by five beaks. These little guys and girls were hatched on Monday and have been an instant joy in our life. Here Iolaus introduces himself.

The one on the far left is Mrs. Pete Pete and the black and yellows are rouens named Mr. And Mrs. Bill and those super cute yellow duckies are Indian Runners whom have been dubbed Tallbeak and Longneck :) 

I know this post is about our new duckies but isn't Iolaus just the cutest with his "love me" eyes.

They didn't really like Mr. Beckendorff. He acts too hyper.

Handy box for recycling

I started with these bracket planks, used for hanging coats, scarves, whatever. Picked them up for a dollar; which is cheaper than buying the hooks alone.

Dissembled

To make painting small pieces easier, I put them on a piece of tape. They kept falling over without it. 

Originally I painted the hooks and then wrapped the plank/board in contact paper. I really liked this when it was part of my studio but now that it's home I wanted to tame down all the color and pattern. 

For this project, I just needed to board. I sanded it down and attached it to a cardboard box that I had already painted white.

Using the anchors that came with it to secure the screw in the cardboard.

Once the board was attached it needed a handle. 

Just some regular nylon rope, knotted and braided.

I attached the rope to the board, now painted, and just like that I have a box for our recylcing that pretty much didn't cost a thing:)

Our Easter Jellybean

Happy Easter y'all. I know I've been M.i.a and now you know why :) Morning sickness, tenderness, and general fatigue have pretty much ruled me lately. 

I'm hoping to get back on a schedule soon because we still have a bunch to do before summer comes to kill me with unbearable heat. I will have another post for y'all later this week. Our farmily is expending by five beaks! Baby duckies are just the cutest so I'm excited. Alright y'all it's nap time for me so keep it green, clean, and classy.

Random Dog

So the white dog and the brindle boxer are just neighborhood dogs. I named the boxer Lady and have even taught her to sit and come. She also knows "up" but only when treats are involved :)

This little white pup decided that it wanted into our yard so he squeezed himself in via the larger wire in our gate. 

The goats immediately introduced themselves.

Of course, Mr. Beckendorff went right in for a butt sniff, haha dogs.

This is in our shed. He wanted to hide out while I was mowing. 

I thought about keeping him, so I pulled him out of the shed so he could acclimate himself with the scary lawn mower sounds. Once out of the safety of the shed he left me:( I guess the engine noise was just too much. Oh well. He is a darling little thing but a bit too fluffy for our taste.
