Our Duck Coop, plus pictures of the Boys, Bella, and our rooster Stefan.

I'm back:) well, for today anyway then I'm probably going to be m.i.a again. My schedule is pretty full with the homestead right now. Awhile back mr had built our sweet duckies a coop of their own. I'm finally sharing that. 

First things first, baby Bella. Who's really not so much of a baby anymore but she will always be my baby girl. This is her "I don't want to pack everything and move". 

When we first build this coop it was placed inside of our storage building. Since the. We have moved to the homestead and now it's under a tree for some partial shade and placed near the chicken coop so the duckies don't feel alone. 

The coop will be completed with a metal roof and some paint. We haven't dealt with much rain since the move so we just throw a trap over it when necessary. 

During the move the coop flew, haha. We use straps 99.99% of the time! this is literally the firs time we have traveled with anything in the back of the truck not tied down. So Murphy's law kicked in about the same time we hit a mammoth of a bump on the road. I saw the coop land but mr saw it titer over the tailgate before toppling down to the rough asphalt. The coop showed it's durability and held tight together, but the corner and one edge of the plywood roof got a little eaten up.

Here's the boys trying to showcase the coop with their stunning good looks:) So, the coop is really just a simple box design. The ducks are both male so we didn't need any boxes for egg laying. Ducks are also different from chickens because they don't perch, so balance bar shelves weren't necessary either. What all birds have in common is the very large amount of poop.  To help with clean up we used a small welded wire screen as the floor. The door is hinged to open down and double duty as an entrance ramp. We added a window on the backside for a view and ventilation. 

This guy here is Stefan, formerly known as Snow. 

When it's closed it's sear rude with a simple hook and latch simple, same one as a gate.

So that's that. I will be doing another post for the coop later. Once it's painted and has it's metal roof. Plus, I was thinking about maybe doing a duck walk path. Till next time keep it green, clean, and classy.
