Microwave Poached Eggs

This may sound crazy but I cooked myself up some poach eggs with a microwave.

Into a microwave safe mug/bowl I poured in enough water to cover the bottom, added about a teaspoon/tablespoon of vinegar (really depends on how much water you use), and, of course, sea salt and fresh cracked pepper.
Heat it until the eggs are cooked, duh right? Well, I can't give a time because microwaves are so different. Ours is kind of super powered so it took 1:15 (soft yolk, cooked whites) which is awesome because I was so hungry and didn't have the patience to pull out a pan and actually cook the eggs.

Drain the excess water. Maybe toast your bread and melt on some cheese:) with more cracked pepper. ... I also added mustard which I find so delicious on an egg sandwich.

A bit messy for a sandwich but that's why I have forks, dig in.

Caulk tips for DIY projects

Sorry I've been a little MIA of late. Things have been busy with the little warrior, Iolaus. His little head is healing but so slowly. He has scratched it open which produced so much blood! The constant itching bothers him but he is thankfully easily distracted with chicken chasing:)

Ok, back to today's tip. It's all about caulk. If you have worked with it before you know that it will harden once open. I had plugged this tube with a screw but it still hardened :/ no worries. Cut the top off with a box cutter, dig out any hardened caulk then duct tape it back together! Love that duct tape.

A bead of caulk doesn't have to look perfect when you put it on at first because step two is smoothing out the line with your finger, or a tool you can buy, or a DIY tool aka a credit card.

Finally, I get to talk about Iolaus again:) just look at that sleeping warrior. Freaking love'em!!!

The lighter is just for size reference. He doesn't smoke, yet. Haha

How NOT to Scallop shorts

Bringing y'all a how NOT to DIY, haha. I thought I had deleted all these failed project photos but I hadn't so I thought I might as well share so y'all can learn from my mistakes.

I started with pants that I tried on first then gave them a little mark where I wanted to cut them with chalk.

After cutting them, turn them inside outside and mark  where you want the scallop, do a full line.

I used a candle holder that had the size of circle I wanted. I drew the scallop shape

Now, to get the hem I went lazy/didn't think my swing skills were up to it and used No-Sew glue. I used a little glue, flipped the hem over, and pinned in place. The glue was horrible because it hardened and the pinning wasn't exactly curved but a few small straight lines that left points. So uncomfortable. Once it warms up, I'm sure I will attempt a DIY scallop again but obviously I will need to touch up the ol' sewing skills :)

Keep it green, clean, and classy.

Iolaus meets his Brothers

I know I'm posting a lot of this cute little guy, but just look at him :)

So, Mr. Beckendorff and Sir Sainic have accepted him. Bella is suffering jealousy and may need a little time to warm up to him.

He is my precious:)

All about those legs, no horns

I'm happy to announce that this little guy has finally been named:) this is Iolaus, the warrior.

So tiny I'm holding him with one hand and I have small hands.

He is learning how to control his long legs a little better every day, but still falls down. It is truly the cutest thing.

This was after a four ounce bottle :) we have dubbed this "milk drunk" Bella did this when she was on the bottle too. They get wobbly and their eyelids get heavy, then they pass out in funny positions.

Alright y'all that's that for now. You already know the drill... keep it green, clean, and classy.

Bringing home our Kid

This little guy came home with us yesterday and I'm already so in love with him. I spent the night on the couch and got up to feed him every two hours but still I love him.

He did so well in the car for his first trip. We left our princess all natural and thought her horns were so cute, but that was when they were just horn buds. Once they were full on horns the cute factor went down but the danger aspect increased so the new kid got disbudded. I'm not going to lie and say I think it's great. He was disbudded in front of Mr and me and we were both heavily disturbed and would never do that again. He got the double burn so basically the top of his cute little head is missing :( horrible, horrible experience that made me almost pass out.

I am happy to report that he is one hell of a trooper and walks around wagging his tail like it's no big deal.

He is currently unnamed. Mr and I have a couple names we have tossed around but haven't zeroed in on any one name in particular. I'm open to suggestions:) till next time keep it green, clean, and classy.

January Read

So, I'm sharing my first book of the year. A new year resolution that appears year after year on my list is to read more. This year I started off with a novel that fits into my "normal" read list. I love me some space travel.

The basic outline is that Earth has evidence of alien life. The Americans and the Russians start a race of who can make contact first. I thoroughly enjoyed the story until ... The ending. I won't give alway any spoilers because I want y'all to check the story out for yourself.

Sir Sainic

This big lug is like a drool monster but I still love'em. Mainly his wrinkles :)

Happy Friday! Our forecast is 80% frozen precipitation tomorrow so I have an entire day of laziness planned and I'm so looking forward to it. Hope y'all enjoy your weekend. Keep yourself warm, green, clean, and classy.

Bella wears a Beanie

I'm not sure if Bella's horns effect her  temperature or not, but they sure get cold.  We thought we would help her warm'em up with a beanie and she didn't seem to mind.

That's all I've got for y'all today. Mr and I are battling the windy cold to get some more checked off the endless list of projects/chores. Keep it green, clean, and classy.

Christmas Sweater Time

Me and Mr made these ourselves.

With just a needle and thread I jazzed up a thifted sweater. For mine, I used an entire garland wreath and a few dangling ornaments for movement when I walk.

This sweater was a different material so we just used a hot glue gun. Mr made the tree with 15 feet of garland that he hand shaped. Next came the ornaments and a little silver garland. This sweater had looked much fuller with more garland and ornaments, but then our chickens got ahold of it and had a sweater buffet.

Haha Mr didn't want to wear his in public but here he is for the whole world to see. Love you honeybunny :)

Normally, I would end this post with green, clean, and classy. Today, however I need to add a request to the end... Please pray for the Dallas Cowboys to continue their winning streak in the playoffs and go to Super Bowl!!!
